Nilay T. Bümen, PhD., is currently a professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Ege University Faculty of Education, Izmir, Turkey. She completed her undergraduate and graduate education at Hacettepe University Curriculum and Instruction division. She started her career as a founding curriculum development specialist at two private schools (1995-2001) and as a research assistant at Ege University from which she received her Associate Professor and Professor titles. During this period she also served as a vice Dean at the Ege University Education Faculty, as technology transfer office coordinator, as Bologna Process coordinator and as strategic planning coordinator (2012-2017). Dr. Bümen also served as a visiting scholar at the Indiana University College of Education in 2011. Her research interest includes curriculum studies, effective teaching and teacher education (especially teachers’ professional development). Dr. Bümen is the author of Multiple Intelligences in the School (2002, Pegem A yayıncılık, Turkish), the translation editor of Contemporary Issues in Curriculum (2016, Pegem Akademi) and also author of more than 30 published articles and papers. She is a member of the International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies and the Turkish Association of Curriculum and Instruction.
