Prof. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım received her bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy and rehabilitation from Hacettepe University in 1991, and received her master’s and doctoral degrees from the same university in 1994 and 1998. She became an associate professor at Hacettepe University, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in 2003 and professor in 2011. Her area of interest includes neurological physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Prof. Yıldırım is teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate courses on clinical decision-making strategies and evidence-based practice in physiotherapy, motor learning, neurodevelopmental treatment and contemporary neurological physiotherapy. She has conducted studies and took part in national and international projects on technological rehabilitation and effects of physiotherapy in neurological diseases. She has co-authored more than a hundred publications, which are cited in many studies, and owns a patent. Prof. Yıldırım has worked on the establishment of internal quality assurance systems, Bologna process and alumni qualifications in higher education and participated in various commissions and national and international projects in these areas. She served as Hacettepe University European Credit Transfer System Unit Coordinator between 2004 and 2012, Erasmus Institutional Coordinator of the University between 2012 and 2014, and the Dean of Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences between 2014 and 2016. Between 2014 and 2016, she also served as the Honorary Chair of the National Health Sciences’ Deans Council co-founded by her. Elected as a member of the Higher Education Quality Council in 2015, Prof. Yıldırım is the Vice President of the Council as of 2018. She is married and mother of one.
